Please visit our office at 525 Central Ave #M2 Great Falls, MT to fill out an application. We require you to complete a full application and provide proof of residence (lease) and an ID.

Things to consider before completing the Need Request form.

Here at we understand how stressful it is when you are in need. We also understand that when you are facing a situation that seems daunting, a “want” may seem to be a “need”. However, needs are different than wants. During our verification process our Good Deed Doers and other volunteers will ask you many questions about your situation. This is important because as stewards of the community’s willingness to help, we have to verify that your request is a “need” and not a “want” before considering posting your request on the website. Some of these questions will be about your financial situation, employment status, your ability to do it yourself, your history of receiving help from other organizations, etc.

Please know that no one is here to judge you or your situation, but we must verify the merit of your need. In some cases we will make suggestions on who you should contact first. If you tell us that you have been to other organizations and they turned down your new request, we will ask you why and then we will contact them to confirm your answer. Again, it is not that we do not believe you, but we must verify all of the facts before considering posting your need request. Our motto is simple: “If we cannot prove it, we do not post it.”

Approved Need Request Categories

Bed (Twin, Full, Queen, special circumstances – King) In general, My Neighbor in Need only fulfills a need for a bed one time.

Furniture (Kitchen table/chairs, Couch, Loveseat, Recliner, Chair, Dresser, Coffee Table, etc)

Appliances (Microwave, Stove, Refrigerator,  Dryer, Freezer) Assistance with a a dryer is only available to someone who is elderly or “fully disabled” .

Housewares (Pots & pans, coffeemaker, hot plate, dishware, glasses & cups, silverware, towels, bedding, blankets)

Medical Equipment (Wheel Chair, Walker, Hospital Bed, Blood pressure pump, Canes, Crutches, Shower Chair/Bench, Shower/Tub Bar)

Bus/Transit Passes – Local transportation only.

Ramp (Great Falls, Montana) – All ramp requests must be referred to the Executive Director.


Fuel for Personal Vehicle  – Driver’s License, Registration & Insurance.

Auto Repairs – $400 limit  – applicant must be able to pay ½ in advance of services being performed.  DL/Registration/Insurance.

 Tires – $400 limit—generally the applicant must be able to pay ½ in advance of services being performed.  DL/Registration/Insurance.

Medical Trip Expenses – Executive Director must approve.

Potentially Dangerous Items  – Executive Director must approve.

Pet Food,

Students —determined on case by case basis.

Other – determined on a case by case basis.

Excluded Needs – Utility Bills, Emergency Food, Electrical, Plumbing (drain cleaning), General Plumbing behind the walls, Yard Clean-Up, House Cleaning, Transmission work, New/Used Vehicle, Traveling outside of service area unless on approved medical trip, Christmas Presents, Veterinarian Bills, Medical Bills, Rent, Deposits of any kind, telephone bills or prepaid phone cards.

We will also consider other need requests on a case by case basis.

However we are unable to post a need request for the following categories: Moving Help, Toys, Computers, Washers/Dryers [2], Appliance Repairs, Emergency Shelter, General Plumbing, Painting, General Construction, Roofing Repairs, General Repairs to Non-Crucial Items, Cable Bills, Cell Phone Bills, Large Electric/Gas Bills, Damaged or Failing Fencing, Collections, Rent or Mortgage Payments, Previous Medical Issues, or any Prescription., New/Used Vehicles, Travel Outside Service Area, Christmas Presents, Veterinarian Bills, Medical Bills, Deposits for Rent.

Crucial Car Repairs: PLEASE NOTE, you will have to provide us with proof of car insurance and current vehicle registration before we can begin the application process. If you do not have car insurance please do not complete the request form. Thank you.

Washers and Dryers: Requests for Dryers can be approved for elderly or full disabled. We are currently unable to request Washers.
